Syracuse Public Library Announcements
Fall Story Times Are Back
Parents, grandparents or guardians are welcome to join the library at 10:30 a.m. each Monday and Tuesday Gisela Vore and Esther DeJulia are offering fun activities that involve pre-learning skills for 18 months to kindergarten age children. Mondays’ theme is art and award-winning books. Tuesdays’ theme is selections from the alphabet. Choose a day or come to both, as there are plenty of places in the classes.
Young Adults
Teens are talking about favorite reads during the first meeting held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Teens will make an easy craft that is appropriate for giving and an apple treat. Young people can prepare for the third Tuesday’s meeting by finding a book that has a character with a disability as part of the main plot. Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse is rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 17.
Adults
The adult book club, One Book, One Hour, meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month. The Wednesday, Oct. 8, group is discussing, Dewey: the small-town library cat who touched the world. Dewey Readmore Books lived for 18 years at the Spencer Public Library in Iowa bringing attention to himself and the library. The group welcomes new members.
“Dear reader, you might already be a winner”, continues with plenty of prizes still available. Adults are encouraged to read five books to receive a reward and to show that they like the Syracuse Library and reading. Books and audio-books qualify.
