Incorporating Dance into Homeschool Curriculum
Debra Collier’s School of Dance is excited to announce open registration for their upcoming session of Intro to Dance for Homeschool Students. The six-week session, beginning Oct. 7, is designed to integrate musicality, dance terminology and physical activity seamlessly into any homeschool curriculum.
The program was created by studio owner Deb Collier and veteran teacher Kristina Collier after speaking to area homeschool parents searching for daytime activities for their children. “They described their desire for high-quality, fine arts opportunities for all ages and we knew this is a way we could help meet a need in our community,” says Deb Collier. “We have always been a studio that focuses on joining the joy of dance together with an educational focus, so it seemed a perfect fit.”
Available for two age groups, ages three to five and six and up, the classes will be taught by experienced instructors whose passion is to share their love of dance. “We will use props and a variety of music to introduce students to different styles of dance”, Deb explains. Registration for the session, held Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., is available at the studio’s website, collierdance.com, at the studio or over the phone
