Lozano Faces Charges In Stabbing
Abundio Capulin Lozano, 35, of 1692 E. CR 200N, Lot 27, Warsaw, is being charged with two level 5 felony charges following the alleged stabbing of a woman on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Lozano has been charged with battery causing serious bodily injury and domestic battery in the presence of a child under 16 years old.
Lozano was arrested just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, several hours after allegedly stabbing his wife, Viviana Arias, in their home. He was taken into custody near Cleveland, Ohio on the Ohio Turnpike in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Lozano was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Sunday and is being held on a $10,000 surety bond.
The affidavit of probable cause states Arias told police her husband became angry with her and came at her with a knife, informing her that she was going to die, while placing the knife against her stomach. The knife broke, at which time he reportedly punched her in the forehead.
Lozano obtained a second knife and started stabbing her in the arm and cheek. Arias attempted to defend against the attack, causing puncture wounds on her left forearm as well.
Police additionally stated a female neighbor came to the residence and told Lozano to stop the assault. The neighbor proceeded to attempt to distract Lozano while Arias grabbed her 10-year-old daughter. The mother and daughter then left the residence. Lozano left a short time later.
The affidavit states the 10-year-old was present at the time of the assault and attempted to stop Lozano from hurting Arias.
