Whitko Sports Wrap – Sept. 20
The Whitko boys soccer team started fast Saturday in defeating North Miami 5-1 in South Whitley.
The Wildcats found the net for a pair of goals in the game’s first two minutes to take control from the outset.
Senior Keegan Hicks put in the first tally for the hosts. Senior Daniel Kirkham then made it 2-0 with a goal, assisted by Hicks.
The Wildcats added three more scores in the second half. Kirkham popped in two more goals and Hicks had the other. Hicks, Kirkham and Tyler Herendeen each had an assist in the second half.
Whitko keeper Jacob Helton had 12 saves in the win.
Whitko Ladies Winners
The Whitko girls soccer team also handed North Miami a 5-1 loss Saturday.
The host Wildcats led just 1-0 at halftime before finding the net four times in the final half.
The duo of Heather Bryan and Reghan Craig each scored two goals to lead the way for the Wildcats.
Leighandra Goodman scored a goal for the winners.
The trio of Craig, Goodman and Alexis Fortman each had an assists.
Whitko keeper Ilyssa Bennett had 10 saves.
