NORTH WEBSTER – Strengthen your mind and body through a graceful form of exercise known as T’ai Chi. The library will offer an eight class series on T’ai Chi taught by Leah Gamble every Wednesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. Oct. 1-23. This ancient Chinese non-violent form of martial arts combines slow, flowing movements with precise breathing that helps relieve stress, improves balance, stimulates energy, and provides other health benefits as well. Gamble has taught T’ai Chi for over 15 years at hospitals, health clubs, community centers, colleges, and private lessons. The cost for this eight class series is $50 with advance registration and prepayment required. Those interested in learning this ancient Chinese tradition of relaxation in motion can sign up and pay the class fee at the front desk.
Others may find relaxation in doing crafts. You can learn to make a fabric scarecrow wall décor in the library’s Craft-A-Scarecrow Workshop taught by Linda McGonagle on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1-3 p.m. For a $10 class fee, the library provides all the materials and supplies, along with the fun of making your own cute scarecrow that will make a perfect addition to your fall décor. No sewing experience is necessary; however, advance registration is needed.
Then learn how to make your own greeting cards in the Make & Take Card Class on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. Advance registration is also needed along with a $7 class fee, and you get to take home all the cards you make in class. Sign up for the Craft-A-Scarecrow Workshop or Make & Take Card Class at the front desk or call (574) 834-7122.
