Warsaw Sports Wrap – Sept. 16
The Warsaw girls golf team tuned up for postseason play with a win Tuesday evening.
Alexis Manwaring once again led the Tigers to victory too.
Senior standout Manwaring, fresh off a medalist performance Saturday in the NLC Tournament, fired a 42 to pace the Tigers past host Whitko at the Sycamore Golf Course in North Manchester.
Manwaring earned medalist or tied for medalist honors for the 15th time this season as Warsaw improved to 15-3 with the 192-246 win.
Kristen Watson shot a 48 and Madi Graham a 50 for the winners. Page Desenberg shot 52, Morgen Fuentes 56 and Ash Jain 57 for the Tigers.
April Bishop led the way for Whitko with a 45.
Aurelia Stephens shot a 63 for the Wildcats. Elizabeth Gensch shot 64 and Kristen Crawford 74 for the hosts.
Warsaw will host its own sectional Saturday at the Stonehenge Golf Club. The Tigers begin play at 9:50 a.m.
Boys Soccer Edges Panthers
The Warsaw boys soccer team collected a much-needed conference win Tuesday night in Nappanee.
The Tigers edged past host NorthWood 1-0 in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Brandon Reinholt tallied the lone goal of the match and the game winner in the 21st minute of the opening half to lift Warsaw to the win.
Warsaw keeper Peyton Long had five saves in goal to earn the shutout.
Warsaw will play Saturday at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger.
