Triton Sports Wrap – Sept. 2
The Triton boys tennis team rolled to a dominating conference win at LaVille Tuesday evening.
The Trojans lost a grand total of seven games in blanking the host Lancers 5-0 for the Northern State Conference victory.
Jared Fisher set the tone in singles play for the winners with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Gavin Eads won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Trojans. Mace Eads won by forfeit at No. 3 singles.
The No. 1 doubles team of Alex Eib and Austin Sellers posted a 6-1, 6-2 win. The duo of Spencer Glingle and Ben Waggoner won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 for Triton.
The Trojans improve to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the NSC.
Triton Runners In Action
The Triton cross country teams played host to Bremen and LaVille in conference competition Tuesday in Bourbon.
Bremen won the boys meet with a team score of 25. Triton posted a team score of 30 and LaVille did not field a complete team.
Derek Johnston led the way for Triton by placing fourth overall in a time of 18:42.
Nick Harker was fifth for the Trojans in 19:32, with Bailey Watkins sixth in 20:45, Landon Kaufman seventh in 20:51 and Shawn Honeycutt ninth in 21:15.
Bremen posted a team score of 15 to win the girls’ meet. Triton and LaVille did not have a complete team.
Baylee McIntire was fourth overall in a time of 24:59 to lead Triton. Aimee Gladieux was fifth in 26:59 for the hosts with Makayla Musilli sixth in 27:14 and Makayla Greenawalt tenth in 30:56.
Volleyball Team Falls At Knox
The Triton volleyball team lost a 3-2 final at Northern State Conference foe Knox Tuesday night.
The hosts prevailed by a 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-9 final.
Jaela Meister led the way for Triton with 14 kills and two aces.
Lauren Hostrawser had five kills and 10 solo blocks. Krystal Sellers had 21 assists and two aces and Quinn Downing 15 digs for the Trojans.
Triton won the JV match 25-13, 16-25, 15-11. Charlotte Morris had four kills and Katie Hepler eight digs for the winners.
