I just received an email blog from my friend, Kent Julian. Kent is a nationally renowned speaker, author and coach. Though I have been speaking for over 20 years, I consider Kent my speaking coach and more importantly a friend.
As a matter of full disclosure I am going to share 21 things Kent said you should never say. The list comes from Kent’s blog at liveitforward.com. However, the thoughts I share are mine. Thanks Kent for a great reminder of how to insure our personal and professional success!
If you are a regular reader of the column, you know I have shared several times the way we get results in our life always follows the same pattern. Thoughts become words …words become actions … and actions get results. Today, I am focusing on words – specifically YOUR words.
There is an old cliché that says sticks and stone can break my bones, but words can never hurt. That is a huge lie! Words are extremely powerful. We can see the affects words have on both children and adults. Words either construct or destruct – they either build or tear down.
We most often see the power of words on someone’s self worth. You may think words only affect children, but words others say about you still have power in your life. Think of the good mentors and bosses you have had. Think of their encouraging words which have helped you get you where you are today. Think of the not so good bosses you have had and how some of those words still affect you today.
The words other speak about and to us have amazing power. However, the most powerful words ever spoken are the ones we speak out of our own mouths about our own lives. We are either constructing or destructing the life we want to achieve.
I am sharing Kent’s list of 21 things to never say. I also thought saying the opposite words can turn things around, so I am also sharing my list of 21 things you should say about yourself.
