Boat Operator Charged For Fleeing Police
SYRACUSE, Ind. — Indiana Conservation Officers assisted Kosciusko County authorities in tracking down and apprehending a subject on Lake Wawasee Sunday who was dangerously operating a boat.
On Sunday, the Kosciusko County Lake Patrol attempted to stop a large “cigar” style boat that was traveling after dark at a high rate of speed across Lake Wawasee. The large boat did not have any lights on and the operator fled from the county police.
Lake Patrol officers chased the boat operator, identified as Daniel Peterson, 24, of Goshen, right to an Indiana Conservation Officer who was on the lake near the Conservation Officer’s Headquarters Building.
Peterson faces multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement and dangerous operation of a boat. He was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $2,000 surety bond.
Indiana Conservation Officers would like to remind the public to stay safe on the water and wear a life jacket. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
