DNR Hunting And Trapping Notes For The Fall
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana DNR has formally announced its hunting and trapping dates for the 2014-15 season.
A complete list of the official dates can be found at http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/files/fw-hunting_trapping_seasons.pdf
Of note for the different categories are furbearer hunting and trapping hours are hunting/running at noon of first day to noon of last day, trapping from 8 a.m. of the first day to noon of the last day, and there are no daily bag or possession limits for furbearers.
Woodland big game bag limits are one bird of either sex per hunter each fall. Fall turkey hunting hours are half hour before sunrise to sunset. There are county restrictions on fall turkey hunting, to which the DNR Hunting and Trapping Guide has a full list of open counties. A separate license is also needed for the spring and fall turkey season.
Deer hunting season hours are half hour before sunrise to sunset. Special antlerless season is only allowed in specific counties with a bonus quota of four or more. All harvested deer and turkey must be checked within 48 hours of harvest at an official deer or turkey check station.
In the miscellaneous category, possession limits on pheasant, quail, rabbits, squirrels, ruffed grouse and frogs is two times the daily bag limit. Ruffed grouse hunting is only open in some counties and quail season dates vary on some DNR properties. Green and bull frog limits are 25 and crows have no limit.
