Wawasee Harmony Site Experiences Server Problems
When the online registration process for school is interrupted for an extended period of time, no matter when, it causes difficulties and inconveniences. Especially so when the problem occurs the day before school starts and on the first day of school too.
Wawasee Community School Corp. experienced problems with online registration beginning Monday when the server for Harmony, the web portal used for registration, had to apply some updates. On Monday, it was anticipated the updates would be applied and the Harmony site would be running again by the evening. But that did not happen and this morning, the first day of school, a new server had to be created.
“We had to create a new virtual server this morning and LogicKey is doing a re-install of the Lotus Domino server and uploading our database,” said Dave VanLue, director of technology for Wawasee schools. “All of our data is intact and we will be back up soon. Obviously it caused some concerns this morning and schedules had to be adapted. Staff and students have been very cooperative and flexible. We are holding class meetings for freshmen and sophomores this morning that were scheduled for Thursday. Those days will be flip-flopped as far as the class schedules goes.”
By late this morning, the server had been restored, he reported.
Online registration for Wawasee began July 29 and had worked well until Monday, VanLue noted. “We do apologize for any inconvenience it has caused our patrons. We have had very few problems with it in the past,” he said.
