Lolabell L. Sloan
Lolabell L. Sloan, 97, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 in her home in Warsaw, Ind.
She was born July 12, 1917, in Warsaw, to Edward C. Weirick and Ethena L. (Truex) Weirick. She was a 1935 graduate of Warsaw High School. She married Dayton R. Sloan, Jan. 30, 1937, LaPorte, Ind.
She was a lifetime Kosciusko County and Warsaw resident. She worked in the Shrine Building for 13 years and for Thornburg’s Drug 10 years. She was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Dancing Grannies. Lolabell enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as watching nature in the back yard.
She is survived by a daughter: Loretta Ann Reeder, Warsaw; six sons: Cary R. (Jan) Sloan, Atwood, Ind.; Jerry D. Sloan, Buena Vista, Colo.; Steven L. (Jane Gramich, fiancée) Sloan, St. Louis, Mo.; Dayton ‘Dick’ (Sharon) Sloan, Indianapolis, Ind.; David M. (Joan Parker, fiancée) Sloan, Warsaw; John R. (Carol) Sloan, Warsaw; 11 Grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers: William Weirick; Carl Weirick;
three sisters: Mary McCullough; Edna Truman; Georgia Baum; one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Ind., and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14. Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer, Celebrations United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
