Actors, Extras Needed For WL Film
“I got to know the town,” says Drew Waters of Winona Lake. “I already had the script written. You guys have so many of the resources that fit this movie.”
Waters is an actor (some may have seen him in the “Friday Night Lights” television series), director and screen writer. He’s written a film that he wants to shoot in Winona Lake.
So what brings a Hollywood star like Waters to the quaint, little Midwestern town of Winona Lake? Waters is involved in a charity organization called Wish For Our Heroes, which has a large support base in Indiana. Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller are also involved in the charity.
“Dane was kind enough to bring us around the town and show us what the town had to offer,” says Waters. While touring Winona Lake, Waters realized almost everything he needed to set his movie was in Winona Lake.
“It’s a very honest, truthful story about life,” Waters says of the movie, which was inspired by a very personal event in his own life. “My best friend was my grandfather, and I lost him to a broken heart.”
“He outlived two loves in his lifetime,” continues Waters. “When he gave up on life, he gave up on a lot of people who still needed him.”
“The whole concept is a love story,” Waters says of his film. It follows a couple who meet as children in 1986, and follows them to present day.
“I set out to make a movie to help people grieve,” says Waters. “It’s a very special movie for me – the perfect example of faith meets mainstream. Let’s get everybody to start talking.”
Not only will Waters be using Winona Lake to set the film, but he’ll be tapping some of the local talent. Waters says he saw a performance of “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Wagon Wheel Theatre during his last visit, and was very impressed.
“We’re going to bring a lot of our main [lead actors] in, but we want to cast in the town as well,” Waters says. “There’s 50 speaking roles in this. A lot of those are one-liners and day players, but they’re important to the story.”
Anyone interested in acting or being an extra should email [email protected]. Crew and intern inquires can be directed to [email protected]. Waters told the Winona Lake Town Council he expects his film crew will be in town in September.
Waters also encourages those who want to get involved to check out his production company’s website, www.argentumentertainment.com. “Our company is about making good quality movies,” he says.
Also, he wanted to publicly thank the Millers for their assistance in bringing the production to Winona Lake. “We fought uphill to get it there, and they were the reason,” he says.
