Leesburg Man Arrested In Fatal Crash
Francisco Espinal-Quiroz, 51, of Leesburg, was arrested in Illinois after causing an accident Monday that killed four people.
Illinois State Police said Espinal-Quiroz was going faster than the posted construction site speed limit when his rig slammed into a red passenger car that caused a chain reaction crash. Four women were killed, including three in the car Espinal-Quiroz impacted.
NBC Channel 5 News in Chicago reports Espinal-Quiroz was charged early this morning for falsifying a log book and willful violation of a log book. He was also cited for failing to reduce speed. He is scheduled to make a court appearance later today.
Illinois State Police said Espinal-Quiroz’s speeding truck entered stalled traffic in a construction zone on Interstate 55 Monday that killed four people and injured four others. “Eyewitnesses told police a truck driver entered the construction zone at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes of I-55 near Arsenal Road, in Elwood, at about 2:30 p.m.,” reported Channel 5. “The tractor trailer slammed into a car and caused a chain reaction crash involving three vehicles and another tractor-trailer.”
