Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, July 2, 9:54 p.m. North 750 East, Syracuse. Driver: Allison N. Matthews, 28, 12th Street, Goshen. Matthews was nortbound on 750 East when a deer ran in front of her vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, July 2, 6:38 p.m. South SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Noma J. McPeak, 44, West Swan Court, Claypool; and Debbie J. Whybrew, 40, Poplar Street, Silver Lake. Whybrew was traveling north on SR 15 and McPeak was traveling southbound on SR 15 near the Rosewood Drive intersection. According to Whybrew and witnesses at the scene, McPeak reportedly crossed the center line causing a head-on collision with Whybrew’s vehicle and then continued on to strike into a metal utility pole. McPeak admitted to officers she could not remember what happened to cause the collision but when asked if she had been drinking, responded, “Oh yeah, I’ve been drinking.” An alcohol test revealed McPeak had a .21 percent blood alcohol level. McPeak suffered an internal head injury and was trapped in her vehicle. Whybrew suffered minor bleeding from her lower arm area. Damages: up to $50,000
Wednesday, July 2, 6:32 a.m. South Packerton Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Amanda N. Beeney, 24, North Columbia Street, Silver Lake. Beeney was traveling southbound on Packerton Road when a deer entered the roadway. Attempting to avoid collision, she swerved, lost control of her vehicle and rolled over. Beeney was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital on complaints of head pain. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, July 2, 2:46 a.m. West US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Russell E. Hilton, 48, Oakwood Street, Portage. Hilton was westbound on US 30 when he struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, July 2, 11:31 a.m. South Union Street. Drivers: Kelley A. Meyer, 32, North Slateview Court, Warsaw; and Craig E. Malott, 41, Columbia Street, Warsaw. Meyer was traveling south on South Union Street behind Malot, who was driving a white Chevrolet pick-up owned by the city. Malott stopped to pick up tree limbs and was rear-ended by Meyer, who stated Malott’s brake lights were not working. Officers tested the lights at the scene and found they were not working. The city truck had no damage from the crash. Damages: up to $1,000
Wednesday, July 2, 7:17 a.m. North Harrison Street. Drivers: Francis J. Ciccone, 35, Grand Meadows Boulevard, Melbourne, Fla.; and Jerusha R. Hohman, 18, North Antler Drive, Warsaw. Ciccone was traveling west on Fort Wayne Avenue approaching Harrison Street when he rolled through the stop sign and struck into Hohman. Damages: up to $5,000
