Mary H. Grisamer
Mary H. ‘Helen’ Grisamer, 86, of Milford, Ind., and formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 6 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at Lakeland Healthcare & Rehab in Milford.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1927, in South Bend, Ind., to Ignatz Peter and Jessie Josephine (Ward) Bogol. She graduated in 1945 from Central High School in South Bend and on June 13, 1953, she married Richard E. ‘Dick’ Grisamer who preceded her in death.
She moved to Syracuse in 1973 from Michigan and then to Milford in 2011. She was a homemaker, and was formerly employed at Studebaker Corporation in South Bend for several years and Laketronics, Inc. in Syracuse for 10 years. She was a lifetime member of both the VFW Auxiliary Post 1342 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 223 in Syracuse.
She is survived by four daughters: Becky (Stan) Richardson, Paula (Tony) Newman, Randi (Tony) Siri and Linda (Marshall) Minnick, all of Syracuse; nine grandchildren: Katie Richardson, Annie Richardson, Sarah Beachy, Rachel (Adam) Schaaf, Emily (Jason) Worrell, Sydney (Chris) Webb, Ruby Minnick, Michael (Ashley) Siri and Mattison Siri; nine great-grandchildren; one sister: Betty McCormick, North Liberty, Ind.; one brother: Robert (Carol) Bogol, Mishawaka, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandson: Andrew Richardson.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Private family graveside service will take place in the McClintic Cemetery in Syracuse with Pastor Tim Bushong officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to American Legion Auxiliary Post 223 or V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 1342. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
