Eagles Defend The Glen
COLUMBIA CITY – There isn’t much a team can do when the hosts shoot a score like Columbia City shot Thursday afternoon. Defending the Eagle Glen home course to a tee, the Eagles posted a 148 and played like they owned the course. Wawasee could only bow out gracefully with its 168.
“Columbia City played very well. You are not going to go to an opposing team’s course and beat 148 very often,” said Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone.
Spencer Klimek led the parade for the Eagles with a 35 followed closely behind by Tyler Green’s 36, Max Dryer’s 38 and Cameron Slavich’s 39.
Wawasee were led by Mason Germonprez’s 41, with Tristen Atwood and Jeffrey Moore each one back at 42 and Cal Heinisch at 43.
Wawasee’s JV were able to clip City by a count of 207-214.
Wawasee wraps up its regular season 12-5 overall and will look to next Friday and the Warsaw Boys Golf Sectional, to be played at Rozella Ford Golf Club in Warsaw. Columbia City will be among the 13 teams in the field.
