Thomas Edward ‘Tom’ Gaskill
Thomas Edward ‘Tom’ Gaskill, 84, of Milford, Ind., passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in his Englewood, Fla., winter home after an extended illness.
He was born on May 7, 1929, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Joseph and Marchia (Sheets) Gaskill. He graduated from Madison Township High School, lived most of his life in the Elkhart County, Ind., area, and wintered in Florida. He was married to Yvonne Janette Haines, who preceded him in death, and then remarried on Nov. 14, 2004, in Goshen, Ind., to Laurine (Haines) Waldbeser, who survives.
He was a truck driver for over 25 years. He attended the Ligonier Evangelical Church, Sunnybrook Alliance Church in Englewood, Fla., and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter: Michelle Moseley, Sarasota, Fla.; a son: Mark (Pamela) Gaskill, Sarasota; three grandchildren: Thomas Bailey, Nichole Gibbs and Kasey Gaskill; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren: Robin and Paul Bailey; four step-great-grandchildren; stepdaughter: Kay Kuhn, Milford; stepson: Ben (Deb Skevington) Waldbeser, Milford; sister: Fran (Sonny) Lazar, Ruskin, Fla.; two brothers: Joseph (Kathy) Gaskill, Lithia, Fla.; Harold (Mary) Gaskill, Riverview, Fla.;
and a nephew: Dennis (Linda) Beadle, Syracuse, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; great-grandson: Christopher: foster-parents: John and Clara Bixler; three foster-sisters: Vera Beadle, Erma Johnson and Gladys Wagner.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Ligonier Evangelical Church, 1911 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Ind., with Pastor Troy Diersing and Reverend Mitchell Hile officiating. Private family burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Owen Family Funeral has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
