Leesburg Man Bilked State, Get Federal Sentence
Dan Warren, 44, of Leesburg, was sentenced this week in federal court to serve 2 years supervised probation and to pay $22,030.25 in restitution after pleading guilty to the felony offense of theft of government property.
According to documents filed in this case, from approximately February 2010 through October 2011, Warren applied for and received extended unemployment insurance benefits through the state of Indiana Department of Work Force Development. He submitted weekly vouchers and intentionally answered “No” to the question asking if he was working, when in truth Warren was employed.
The case was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Barbara Brook.
