Syracuse BZA Considers Two Petitions
Two cases were heard at the regular meeting of Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals Thursday. One was approved and one denied.
Swiss Perfection’s petition for a variance to allow 600 square feet of signage, where 200 square feet is allowed by ordinance, was approved. The property is located at 100 S. Huntington St.
RE/MAX Realty and Oakwood’s petition for a variance to allow the change and alteration to two separate signs by allowing both to be replaced, was denied. The case was denied for three reasons, one of which is Oakwood already has directional signs along SR 13 at the intersection. The other reason is the existing sign was originally approved in 2007 for another business and, as a condition of approval, if that business ever moved the sign was to be removed. The third reason is because the request is in direct conflict with the goals and objectives of the town’s comprehensive plan.
The two signs are located on the same property at 817 S. Huntington St.
The next meeting is at 6 p.m. June 19, at Syracuse Town Hall.
