There are only three weeks of After School Is Cool left for this school year. Make sure you don’t miss out on all the fun! Come in to the library at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, for a fun craft! Spring is a windy time of year, and we’ve thought of a perfect craft to make! Put together your very own pinwheel, downstairs in the meeting room. Bring a friend for some fun and a snack!
LASER SHOW: FREE FOR ALL AGES
The Laser Show is coming! For the first time, the fantastic Laser Show is opened to the Wawasee Community Come enjoy a spectacular display of lights set to popular music. The Laser Show has been a program at Milford School the last 2 years, hosted by the Milford Library, to promote the beginning of Summer Reading Program. This year the local public libraries, schools and PTOs combined their efforts to offer the exciting show to the whole community. Celebrate the end of the school year, the beginning of the summer, and the start of a new summer reading program! The show will take place at 7 p.m., Friday, May 16, in the gym at Wawasee High School. It is free to attend and all ages are welcome! Make plans for you and your family to attend this free show. We promise you won’t be disappointed!
Knitting Club
The Knitting Club will meet upstairs at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 16. The club meets the first and third Fridays of each month to work on projects. If you can’t make it to an afternoon meeting, consider coming to the next evening meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12. The club is a great way to finish a project or learn a new knitting technique.
Book Sale: Friends of the Library
The Friends are still accepting donations for their book sale. The sale will take place during Milford Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, in front of the library. The Friends will be accepting item donations up to the day of the sale. You can leave your donations in the library’s meeting room downstairs. Gently-used books and DVDs are especially appreciated.
Celebrate A Museum
Sunday, May 18, is National Museum Day. Though some museums are closer to us than others, it can be hard to find time to visit museums. Famous museums that celebrate art, history, science and much more are spread across the country, and though we would like to visit them all, it’s simply not possible. Luckily, there is a solution to this problem! Here at the library, we have many resources that enable you to learn about famous museums and their treasures without ever leaving town! Perhaps you can’t visit a museum, why not check out a book instead? Check out the Official Guide to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum if you’re interested in aeronautics. America’s Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum will show you some of the country’s greatest art, or if you’re looking for a specific artist, try Van Gogh’s Van Goghs, Masterpieces from the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, by Richard Kendall. For a fun story time, read Barbar’s Museum of Art, by Laurent de Brunhoff if you’re looking for a story to read to your kids! Ask library staff to help you find a specific subject, and celebrate museums this week!
