Warsaw Nine Rips Redskins
GOSHEN – The bats were in full swing Wednesday for Warsaw.
The Tigers piled up 19 hits in blanking host Goshen 8-0 in Northern Lakes Conference baseball action in the Maple City.
Leading the hit parade for the Tigers were the trio of Justin Oberlin, Ethyn Bradley and Caleb Moneyheffer with three knocks each.
Warsaw also got a pair of hits from the trio of Dean Katris, Sterling Hay and Caleb Heckaman.
The Tigers also got a strong pitching performance from Tyler LaFollette. He went the distance by firing a four-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts to even his season mark at 1-1.
Warsaw scored three runs in the third inning and added four more insurance tallies in the seventh.
Warsaw, now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the NLC, plays at league foe Plymouth Friday at 5 p.m.
Goshen drops to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in the NLC. The Redskins host Elkhart Memorial in NLC action Friday.
The Warsaw junior varsity topped the Redskins by a 9-4 count.
Zach Witt notched the pitching win and Bryce Slabaugh had two hits as the JV Tigers improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NLC.
The Warsaw JV also plays at Plymouth Friday at 5 p.m.
The Warsaw C team lost an 8-2 final to Homestead. Jordan Jones was the losing pitcher for the Tigers, who take a 1-1 mark into a game versus Triton on Thursday.
