Triton Sports Wrap – April 23
Mallorie Jennings took care of the pitch and Hannah Jennings the pop at the plate for the Triton softball team Wednesday night.
The pair combined to lead the Trojans to a 5-3 win over host John Glenn in a Northern State Conference contest.
Mallorie Jennings fired a five-hitter, while allowing just one earned run. The senior standout fanned 10 and walked just one in the circle.
Hannah Jennings collected four hits, including three doubles, for the winners. She drove in a pair of runs.
Triton took a 3-0 lead before the Falcons scored twice in the fifth frame. The Trojans added a pair in the top of the seventh before Glenn scored once in their final at-bat.
Lauren Hostrawser had two hits and Lexee Lemler and Allyson Brown each had a double for Triton.
Tennis Team Victorious
A dominating sweep of singles action highlighted Triton’s 4-1 win over LaVille Wednesday.
Kaelyn Mason won 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles spot to lead the Trojans to the Northern State Conference win.
Shayla May posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and Kylie Mason completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3.
The Trojans also got a win from Carrie Slabaugh and Holly Stogsdill by a 6-0, 6-4 count at No. 1 doubles. Triton’s No. 2 doubles team of Michal Scherer-Berry and Cassie Irons lost in three sets.
Triton improves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the NSC.
The Trojans won the junior varsity competition by a 3-0 final.
