Harrison Elementary Class Wins Reading Contest
Recently Mrs. Kinsey’s fourth grade class from Harrison Elementary participated in a national reading contest through Achieve 3000, an online reading program.
Students read articles at their level and completed comprehension activities and earned points for completion and accuracy. The winning classes were determined by the high average points scored, per student, within each district.
Mr. Kinsey’s class was the winner for Warsaw Community Schools. The average points scored for this group of 28 fourth graders was 87, which was 40 percent higher than the national average of winning classes.
During the 4 weeks of the contest, Braxton Bryer and Francisco Martinez-Ortiz were high point leaders for the day in the state of Indiana. Ten students in the classroom were daily high points leaders for Harrison: Dalton Ousley, R.J. Meyer, Neharika Upadhyay, Brandon Lopez, Ian Kincaid, Madeline Gorup, Sergio Encesco-Rosales and David Lee. Mrs. Kinsey’s students received a certificate and a pizza party from Achieve 3000 in recognition of their efforts.
