Tigers Crush Colonials
MISHAWAKA – A pair of big innings carried the Warsaw baseball team past South Bend Clay Thursday.
The Tigers tallied all 13 of their runs in the final two frames to crush the Colonials 13-0 in five innings in a make-up game played at Bethel College.
Warsaw plated six runs in the fourth frame and added a seven spot in the fifth inning of the shutout.
Tyler LaFollette led the 13-hit attack for coach Mike Hepler’s Tigers with a pair of doubles. He also drove in three runs in the win.
Dean Katris had two hits, including a double, and three RBI for the Tigers. Ethan Bradley had two hits and two RBI and Caleb Moneyheffer had two hits and Cole Baker two RBI.
Kevin Hawley went the distance on the hill for the winners. He allowed six hits in five innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
Warsaw, now 2-1, plays at Columbia City Friday at 5 p.m.
The Warsaw junior varsity team topped Clay 10-4. Winning pitcher Sterling Hay had three hits and Luke Baker two doubles to lead the Tigers.
