Technology Park Phase I Construction Approved
Work on the new Warsaw Technology Park continues with preliminary plat approval on the nearly 40-acre tract west of town.
Warsaw Planning Commission met Monday night to vote on Phase I, which includes a plan to subdivide the property into four lots, each approximately 9 acres. The plan also includes the extension of Polk Drive to the west of Silveus Crossing (CR 150 West) and the inclusion of city sewer, water and storm infrastructure to the technology park.
The city and West Hill Development have been working on the project for the last two years. Also in the plan is shell building that will be used as a move-in ready facility to entice new manufacturing business to the city.
Margaret Hendrixson lives just north of Warsaw Technology Park and adjacent to the lot when the shell building will be constructed. While she told the WPC, “There’s a lot of good things about the development,” she was clear about one issue she did not like. “I’m not happy the trees will come down.”
Skinner explained that trees will have to be sacrificed for lot preparation, but that landscaping requirements will be in place so natural vegetation will be replanted. Additionally, Skinner noted the wetland area to the north of the technology park will be preserved and a pedestrian path will also be added that will follow Polk Drive and continue east to Shelden Street.
Weather permitting, construction on the park property should begin next month.
