Milford Town Council Unveils Plaque
Milford Town Council held its monthly session Monday evening at Milford Town Hall.
In recognition of April being Month of the Military Child, the council unveiled a plaque recognizing the sacrifices children of servicemen and servicewomen make for the ultimate benefit of the nation. The plaque will be presented to Milford School for display.
Two Milford residents pled for relief from the town council following inadvertent water usage at their residences. In both instances, pipe ruptures during subzero temperatures caused undetected water flow, greatly increasing each resident’s water and waste bills.
The council decided to forgive the waste bill since the water never entered the sewage system. The excess water costs above the amount normally paid by each resident was forgiven by 50 percent, with both amounts being credited to the respective accounts.
Robin Loucks, plant manager at New Paris Telephone, requested permits to use Milford right of ways so the company may install fiber optics down Old SR 15 and into Milford. Limited groundwork would be necessary and the council advised Loucks an application and $500 bond posted with the town clerk would secure the appropriate permit.
Also during the meeting, Utilities Superintendent Randy Veach noted the telemetry system at the water tower and well needs to be updated, as well as other necessary maintenance and repair.
Also needed is a larger backup stationary generator at the tower to provide power in the case of a major power outage in the town. Councilman Doug Ruch recommended taking some of these requests to the Milford Redevelopment Commission since the costs could be financed using TIF money. It was noted the larger generator would help insure fire protection during prolonged loss of power in the town.
