Marshall G. ‘Baldy’ Boyer Sr.
Marshall G. “Baldy” Boyer Sr., 76, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1938, in Warsaw, Ind., to Sanford G. and Margaret Mildred ‘Milly’ (Benge) Boyer. He graduated in 1955 from Macy High School, was a United States Navy Veteran and moved to Syracuse in 1962 from the Macy area. On Aug. 11, 196, he married Wilma Nicodemus who preceded him in death. On Dec. 15, 2001, he married Sandra K. ‘Sandy’ (Hammer) Drew who survives.
He was formerly employed at Starcraft in Topeka for 12 years, Commodore Homes in Syracuse, Regent Homes in Syracuse, Fairmont Homes in Nappanee, Ind., and Blue Finn Homes in Nappanee.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Teresa Boyer, Syracuse; Diane (Fred) Shambaugh, Akron, Ind.; four sons: Marshall Boyer Jr., Milford, Ind.; Tony (Flora) Boyer, Warsaw; Jim (Deb) Glaze, Pierceton, Ind.; Mike Glaze, Decatur, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; his first wife; and his sister.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, in the funeral home, with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Military rites will be performed by Syracuse American Legion following services at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place in the Akron Cemetery.
