Deidre P. ‘Dee’ Jaynes
Deidre P. ‘Dee’ Jaynes, 66, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Bremen Health Care Center, Bremen, Ind.
Dee was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Los Angeles, Calif., to William and Darlene (Sabatella) Kern. She was a 1965 graduate of Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Calif. On Nov. 6, 1966, in Stanton, Calif., the man Dee knew and loved as her dad, Larre Schlarmann, gave her hand in marriage to Donald Jaynes – a marriage they would cherish for 47 years. In 1970 Dee and Don moved to Warsaw from Michigan.
Dee was employed by Zimmer from which she retired in 2002 as an organizer for corporate meetings. Prior to her Zimmer employment, Dee drove bus for Cardinal Center for 3 years, worked at Dalton Foundry in the accounting department for 5 years and was employed for 5 years by The Paper where she wrote various articles including “Know Your Neighbor.” She also provided some photography work for The Paper.
Dee was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing with its choir in earlier years. She also belonged to Tri Kappa. She was an avid reader who loved to write – especially poetry. She also enjoyed taking pictures. Dee had traveled to 49 of the 50 states – never getting to Delaware. Dee knew how to have fun which included taking the girls to Pike Lake when they were young. She and Don enjoyed traveling and camping together as well as the special trips they would take between Christmas and New Years. Dee loved and was loved by her husband, daughters, grandchildren and friends. She will be missed.
She is survived by two daughters: Sherri (Jerry) Parker, Garrett, Ind.; and Wendy (Troy) Campbell, Niles, Mich.; six grandchildren: Camron Parker, Breanna Parker, Taylor Campbell, Emma Riedley, Elizabeth Parker and Alec Campbell; four sisters: Judi Hinchee, Amarillo, Texas; Kathi Phillips, Las Vegas, Nev.; Sharre Schlarmann, Escondido, Calif.; Gretchen (Earl) Bloom, Mira Loma, Calif.; three brothers: Larre (Janet) Schlarmann, Poway, Calif.; Dani (Analiza) Schlarmann; Brandon Schlarmann, Big Bear Lake, Calif.
Dee was preceded in death by father; and her mom and dad: Darlene and Larre Schlarmann.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, with Pastor David Hummel of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, at a later date.
The family has asked that gifts in Dee’s memory be given to a charity of your choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others in her memory.
