Miller Receives Many Accolades
WINONA LAKE – Grace College senior Greg Miller ended his Lancer career in memorable fashion, earning the NCCAA’s Pete Maravich Award and the NCCAA’s Tournament MVP in his final week.
Miller, a 6-6 forward from Akron who starred at North Miami High School, was also named First Team NCCAA All-American and was honorable mention for NAIA All-American.
Miller led the No. 7 seed Lancers to the NCCAA national championship game last week before losing by two in the final to Point Loma Nazarene. For his efforts, he was named the tournament’s most outstanding player.
He also won the prestigious NCCAA Pete Maravich Award at the NCCAA pre-tournament banquet. The Pete Maravich Award recognizes the outstanding NCCAA Division I men’s basketball student-athlete who excels in competition, skill, academics and Christian service during his career.
Miller joined Scott Blum (1993) and Matt Abernethy (2003) as Grace’s Pete Maravich winners since 1990.
Grace head coach Jim Kessler has this to say about his star player.
“Greg [Miller] is a dream to coach. I have yet to see him give up regardless of the situation. In fact, at the most difficult times he shines and encourages others to push ahead. He is a truly remarkable and special young man. Despite his accomplishments and accolades, he lives realizing that everything he has achieved is from God and not himself.”
Miller became the eighth Lancer in program history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. He ended his career 11th all-time in career points (1,873) and 8th in career rebounds (1,052).
Miller, along with Morgan Michalski, was also named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. The pair joined Jared Treadway, Niko Read and Adrian Makolli as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes as well.
Logan Irwin was also named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team during Grace’s postseason awards’ haul. Irwin, a sophomore guard who transferred from Stetson University, starred at Whitko High School.
