Daniel O Ragan
Daniel O Ragan, 59, formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in his Binghamton, N.Y., home.
Daniel was born June 1, 1954, in Warsaw, to Bert Edward and Alma Lois (Groat) Ragan. He graduated in 1972 from Walla Walla High School in Washington. After graduation he entered the United States Air Force. While serving his country he was stationed in Idaho and then in Korea. After an honorable discharge he relocated to Indiana. Daniel attended Indiana University.
He joined the American Legion Post #49. After attending college and working for Indiana University, he relocated to New York where he worked for Cornell University. He started his own business, Coremeld Consulting, after relocating to Binghamton. Daniel was a lifelong musician. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage. Through music he combined the two. He loved playing Irish jigs and songs on his penny whistle and never traveled without it. He played professionally in Binghamton with fellow musicians. A very charismatic man, his eyes constantly twinkled with mirth; his grin was infectious and with his wit he could fill a room with laughter; with his love and zest for life, a room full of sunshine; and with his music and his faith, peace for the soul. He will be so very missed by his friends and loved ones and will always be remembered with fondness and love –especially by his mother.
He is survived by his mother; three sisters: Janet Clark Robertson, Auburn, Ind.; Linda (Jim) LoBue, Auburn; Kathleen (Rusty) Styles, Elkhart, Ind.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: Bert Edward Ragan.
A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery – Legion Circle 3. Mr. Joey Shepherd will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
