MYL Readying For Season
MENTONE – The Mentone Youth League (MYL) is happy to announce that the upcoming 2014 season is about to begin with many new changes including new board members, new officers, procedures, and policies that will provide a great future for the youth program.
MYL would like to introduce their 2014 Board of Directors and Officers: Chris Pettit – President, Josh Crabb – Vice President, Shaun Shepherd – Secretary, Thadd Mellott -Treasurer, Michelle Goble – Deputy Treasurer, Keith Egolf – Equipment Manager, and Board Members at Large – Phil Prater, Dan Thompson, Steve Moriarty, and Terrye Kirchenstien.
As some may have heard or read in the local media, the Mentone Youth League has experienced a situation where a former board member abused our written policies and procedures under which we operated. The MYL board members would like to extend our apologies to our community and reassure you that we are taking significant steps to build Mentone Youth League into a youth sports program that we, and our supporting community members can be proud of.
MYL Board President Chris Pettit recalls growing up as one of three children being raised by a single parent; the coaches and volunteer parents of his local little league baseball team were like an extended family to him. Being involved in a youth program helps learn skills like teamwork, responsibility, a hard work ethic, achieving goals, camaraderie and sportsmanship. All these attributes helped build character and help build a community.
