Program Introduces Toddlers To Movement Concepts
Romp and Roll is a program designed to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to a variety of movement concepts. Children have the opportunity to explore various movements through locomotor, vestibular, eye-hand and eye-foot, tumbling and rhythmic activities.
Through these activities, your child will increase their flexibility, balance, strength and overall coordination. By improving their physical skills through these forms of movement, children stimulate the growth of their brain, enhancing the ability to learn. It is the body teaching the brain, not the other way around.
Special emphasis is also placed on reinforcing the knowledge of shapes, numbers, colors and letters. The program provides age-appropriate activities the children enjoy.
Classes begin Friday, Feb. 21, and are held each Friday through March 21. Toddlers (ages 1-3 with participating adult) meet from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and preschoolers (ages 3-6) meet from 11:15 a.m. to noon or 12:15 to 1 p.m. at the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St. (SR 13).
Cost is $40 and pre-registration is required at the NWCC. Longtime gymnastics coach, preschool teacher and early childhood movement educator Nika Prather will teach Romp and Roll.
