Karen Shoemaker Horoho
Karen Shoemaker Horoho, 66, of Warsaw, Ind., and formerly of Akron, Ind., passed away at 9:02 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at University Hospital of Indianapolis, Ind.
She was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Detroit, Mich., to Winston and Anna (King) Montague. She graduated from Triton High School in 1965. She was married to Jack Shoemaker. She later married Randy Horoho. He preceded her in death.
She worked for Torin – Brookside of Rochester, Ind., and Chrysler of Kokomo, Ind. She enjoyed her grandkids, remodeling homes and traveling as well as being a people lover.
She is survived by a daughter: Anna Gates Baillieul, Rochester; a son: Rick Shoemaker, Akron, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Aubrey, Alexis and Avery Gates; Kaitlin, Sage, Tatum and Greyson Shoemaker
sisters: Sally (Roger) McPeak, Pittsburgh, Texas; Jeanene (Troy) McGuire, Snohomish, Wash.; Elaine (Bud) Wetzel – Winona Lake, Ind.; Deb (Marvin) Eberly, Warsaw; Cheryl (Richard) McDonald, Warsaw; Nancy Rockhill – Westfield, Ind.; brother: Tom (Val) Montague, Westminster, Colo.; Richard (Becki) Montague, Westfield; Michael (Karen) Montague, Downers Grove, Ill.; and 103 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son: Russell Shoemaker; her parents; a brother: Jimmy Montague; and a sister: Aleta Montague.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will take place in Akron Cemetery, Akron.
