Woman Arrested Following Battery Of Toddler
A Warsaw woman was arrested Saturday night following the battery of two individuals, including a 2-year-old.
Jennifer L. Lichtenberger, 42, of 3699 N. 175 E., Warsaw, was arrested for battery resulting in the bodily injury of a family member in the presence of a child and battery resulting in serious bodily injury where the victim is less than 14 years old.
According to the probable cause affidavit provided by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Officer Kevin Gelbaugh responded to Licthenberger’s residence following a report of a “family fight.”
Officers were met by Licthenberger’s daughter, who informed them Licthenberger had returned from a neighbor’s home intoxicated and had become agitated. Licthenberger allegedly attempted to sit down on a bed where her 2-year-old grandson was sleeping and sat on him. Licthenberger then became more angry and reportedly threw the child across the room, causing him pain.
Witnessing the incident, her daughter attempted to help her child and was bit by Licthenberger on the nose. Another 4-year-old child was present in the room when the battery occurred.
According to police, blood was coming from the nose and nostril area of Licthenberger’s daughter. An additional adult witness stated that, after hearing yelling, she entered the bedroom to witness the 2-year-old “flying through the air.” The witness said all children were taken to a separate residence for their safety.
Licthenberger was arrested for two Class D Felony charges and was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,000 surety bond.
