Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, Jan. 12, 10:11 p.m. 5000 block Armstrong Road, Leesburg. Drivers: Jomy Francis, 26, Lake Street, Warsaw; and Matthew G. Hamman, 18, Armstrong Road, Leesburg. Automobile collision. Damages: more than $1,000
Sunday, Jan. 12, 9:29 a.m. Hatchery Road near 1000 North, Syracuse. Driver: Grant D. Ruch, 21, Catherine Street, Milford. Ruch’s vehicle slid on ice and left the roadway, striking a utility pole. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Jan. 11, 11:36 p.m. 250 East near East Brookfield Circle, Warsaw. Driver: Paul R. Roth, 27, Riverside Drive, Warsaw. Driver struck deer. Passenger Cynthia Sherburne, 55, was treated by EMS for abdominal pains. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, Jan. 11, 3:51 a.m. 1000 West near 600 South, Mentone. Driver: Terry L. Moore, 50, SR 19, Macy. Driver struck deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Jan. 11, 3:48 a.m. 250 East near EMS C28 Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Nikole L. Gasaway, 23, Third Street, Pierceton. Driver failed to make a turn and drove off the roadway. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the incident, and Gasaway was detained for an OWI investigation. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, Jan. 11, 12:22 a.m. 1300 South near 500 West, Silver Lake. Driver: Shane M. Pingleton, 18, SR 114, North Manchester. Pingleton slid on a patch of ice, exited the roadway and struck a tree. During the investigation, the driver’s father, Bruce Pingleton, attempted to deceive officers by saying he was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident, and he was the only individual in the vehicle. It was later discovered that two juvenile, female passengers were injured in the accident; one was treated by EMS at the scene for minor head bleeding. Damages: up to $10,000
Friday, Jan. 10, 4:57 p.m. 675 East near EMS T2 Lane, North Webster. Driver: Victoria W. Stepp. Stepp lost control of her vehicle due to slush on the roadway, drove off the road and struck a fence. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, Jan. 10, 3:49 p.m. 900 North near 300 East, Milford. Drivers: Harlan W. Steffen, 78, Huntington Street, Syracuse; and Gerald R. Hastings, 48, EMS D24B Lane, Syracuse. Steffen pulled in front of Hastings causing a collision. Damages: up to $10,000

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Saturday, Jan. 11, 4:24 p.m. 200 block of Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Araceli Rico, 35, Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Rico collided with a sign while backing out of a parking space. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, Jan. 11, 11:14 a.m. Frontage Road near Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Sharon E. Rice, 43, 300 North, Warsaw; and Donald M. Lozier, 84, EMS Lane C22, Warsaw. Rice collided with Lozier while backing out of a parking space. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Jan. 10, 3:36 p.m. 2500 Block of Walton Blvd, Warsaw. Drivers: Sharon A. Fitzgerald, 41, 600 North, Leesburg; and Melody J. Downs, 28, Union Street, Claypool. Fitzgerald collided with Downs who was pulling out of a parking spot. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, Jan. 10, 1:32 p.m. Detroit Street near Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Sarah K. Cowan, 25, Anchorage Road, Warsaw; and Clifford D. Daughtery, 32, 400 South, Warsaw. Cowan turned in front of Daughtery causing a collision. Damages: up to $2,500
