David Eric Deisch
David Eric Deisch, 62, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 7:10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born June 7, 1951, in Elkhart County, Ind., to Franklyn and Mary (Taylor) Deisch. He married Fortune Escario Kakilala on April 2, 1994, in Nappanee.
Mr. Deisch was a 1969 graduate of Nappanee High School and earned an associate degree in gunsmithing from Colorado School of Trades in Denver, Colo. A lifetime resident of Nappanee, he owned Deisch Firearms and was an award-winning photographer. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
She survives, along with daughters: Erica Deisch, Nappanee; and Katrina (Jeff) Swartz, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son: Casey (Sundown) Deisch of Wakarusa; sisters: Jane Ann (Ken) Thompson, Elkhart; and Melinda Badman, Warsaw; grandsons: Greyson and Brennin Deisch, Wakarusa, Ind.; and granddaughters: Isabella and Sophia Swartz, of Indianapolis.
Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the First Brethren Church in Nappanee. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the church with Reverend Tom Schiefer and Reverend Terry Tyler officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
