Warren G. Benson
Warren G. Benson, 89, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at his home.
He was born on May 26, 1924, in Etna Green, Ind., to Ora and Celia (Jones) Benson. He lived most of his life in the Syracuse area and graduated in 1942 from Syracuse High School. He was a WWII Army veteran and was married on Jan. 24, 1948, in Syracuse, to Miriam E. ‘Pat’ Losee. She survives.
He formerly owned and operated the Syracuse Dry Cleaners for 28 years and prior to that he was employed at Fiedke Dry Cleaners in Goshen, Ind., and Cambridge & Liberty Mobile Homes in Syracuse.He was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, Ind., and was a life member and past commander of the Millersburg American Legion and V.F.W. in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter: Gail Benson-Sauers, Syracuse; a son: Jim (Pam) Benson, Syracuse; six grandchildren: Amanda Benson, Brianne Sauers, Kim Davis, Leslie Vanover, Angela Frost and David Killian; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ilene Lindeman and Mary Stiffler, Goshen, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Janet Patrick; son: Carl Benson; great-great- grandsons: Henry Davis and Thomas Archer.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
