Mason Goes Off In Big Win
BOURBON – Kylie Mason had a huge night, scoring 23 points as the Triton Lady Trojans crushed South Central (Union Mills) 49-31 Saturday night at the Trojan Trench.
Mason nailed three from deep and made all four of her free throws to build up her 23 points while also contributing three rebounds, an assist and a steal in a full 32 minutes of work.
Mallorie Jennings added nine points and six boards and teammate Becca Kennedy seven points and four boards. Krystal Sellers helped defensively with seven rebounds and four steals. Jaela Meister had four points and seven rebounds.
Triton, which won its fourth straight game, led 17-7 after the opening period of play and took a 25-13 lead at intermission of the non-conference contest.
The Trojans hit 19-36 free throws in the win. South Central shot just 9-15 from the line and was just 11-52 from the field, including 0-12 on 3-point attempts.
South Central’s Jill Rosenbaum was a beast for the Satellites with 18 points and 10 boards before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Rosenbaum also had three blocks and two steals in her totals. South Central drops to 3-5 with the loss.
Triton (7-3) will look to its next matchup on Saturday, Jan. 4 when the Lady Trojans will take on the Warsaw Lady Tigers (2-7) at the Orthopaedic Capital Center on the campus of Grace College. The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. with the varsity tilt to follow.
