Valley Nabs Second In Own Tourney
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team took runner-up honors Saturday night in its own Thanksgiving Classic.
Noblesville outscored the host Vikings 70-63 in the title game of the four-team tournament.
Caylie Teel led the way for the Vikings in the championship contest with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Cara Hoffman netted 12 points and freshmen Anne Secrest and Meredith Brouyette each had 11 for Valley.
Karis Tucker had eight points and Kelsey Ball collected eight rebounds in Valley’s first loss of the season.
Noblesville improved to 6-1 with the win. Valley drops to 3-1.
Valley opened the tourney Saturday morning with a 46-28 win over Portage. The Vikings outscored Portage 12-5 in the second quarter and 13-4 in the final frame for the win.
Secrest continued her outstanding play in her first prep season with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the victory. Brouyette had 11 points and Teel had nine rebounds and four assists.
Noblesville topped Munster 88-30 in the other first-round game. Portage then beat Munster 63-47 in the consolation game.
Valley plays at Plymouth Thursday night.
