Third Tornado Identified In Kosciusko County
The National Weather Service is continuing its review of storm damages that occurred throughout Indiana Sunday and, as of late this afternoon, identified yet another tornado that struck Kosciusko County.
The first tornado, an EF-2, was confirmed to have struck rural Silver Lake. This morning, the damages reported to The Pines housing addition north of Warsaw was also confirmed to be a tornado. The EF-1 storm resulted in downed utility poles and power lines along East CR 450 North, cracked off numerous trees in the addition and damaged several homes and vehicles.
Now, the NWS says a third tornado, also an EF-1, paved a 1.1 mile path near Mentone and packed winds of 100 mph. That funnel cloud touched down near SR 25 and South 800 West where it damaged at least three homes. A barn was pushed from its foundation and suffered severe structural damage and Bambi Roofing near Atwood lost a significant portion of its roof. Other damages were downed trees.
Today’s update should conclude the weather service’s survey of Kosciusko County. Those who did suffer any amount of storm damage are encouraged to report it to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, which will likely seek federal disaster assistance.
