Tiger Harriers Among XC Academic All-State
The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches issued its lists for the boys and girls Academic All-State recipients. Among those honored were three individuals from Warsaw Community High School’s boys team and a pair from the girls team.
Senior Ellis Coon, who finished third at the IHSAA state finals, was voted Academic All-State on the boys list, while teammates Nick Bergen and Daniel Messenger, both juniors, were named Honorable Mention Academic All-State.
Two seniors from Warsaw’s girls team – Aletheia Burritt and Madeline Hooks – were named Academic All-State as well.
Several from the area were also included on the respective lists. Named Academic All-State for boys cross country include Clay Travis of DeKalb; Shea Targgart of East Noble; Josh Bustos and Joel Byler of Goshen; Andrew Henderson and Niall Henderson of John Adams; Thomas Gales, Tyler Krathwohl and Jonathan Mader of Penn; and Nolan Liu, William Maher, Gregory Monnin and Joseph Sawyer of St. Joseph’s.
Named Honorable Mention Academic All-State for boys cross country include Austin Hooley of Bethany Christian; Ryan Shank of Concord; Jonathon Kane of East Noble; Eric Herber of Lakeland; Collin Elek of Penn; and Jacob Klaybor of St. Joseph’s.
Named Academic All-State for girls cross country include Lena Yeakey of Bethany Christian; Erin Thomas of Culver Academy; Alexia Zawadzke of East Noble; Frankie Spring of Penn; and Claire Jilek, Sophia Mark, Nora McGreery, Sarah Morris, Madeline Pfeil and Micaela Powers of St. Joseph’s.
Named Honorable Mention Academic All-State for girls cross country include Hannah Buggeln and Boyan Zhang of Culver Academy; and Amanda Stump of Garrett.
