Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 4:30 a.m. South Main and West Van Buren streets, Leesburg. Drivers: Jose W. Arita, 33, North 175 East, Warsaw; and Kevin J. Lehman, 34, North Main Street, Milford. Lehman was southbound on Main Street when Arita’s vehicle crossed the center line and was “driving in the wrong lane.” Lehman slammed on his brakes to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so. Arita was northbound on Main Street attempting to pull into the gas station and said he did not see the southbound vehicle. The mirror of Arita’s vehicle scraped down the side of Lehman’s vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000
Monday, Oct. 14, 8:36 p.m. East 1000 South and South 400 East, Sidney. Driver: Richard K. Miller, 74, North SR 13, North Manchester. Miller was eastbound on 1000 South when a vehicle ran a stop sign at the 400 East intersection. Miller was driving a semi trailer full of grain and slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle. The truck then slid backward down the slight hill before becoming stuck. Damages: up to $10,000
Monday, Oct. 14, 7:51 p.m. East 250 North and North Boeing Road, Warsaw. Driver: Kevin A. Balsley, 48, North Nappanee Street, Nappanee. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Monday, Oct. 14, 4:27 p.m. East Winona Avenue and Reed Street. Drivers: Karina Villa, 22, 1004 E. Market St.; and Kale A. Elkins, 29, Shady Lane, Warsaw. Villa and Elkins were backing from residences on East Winona Avenue and collided. Damages: up to $2,500
