Tiger Frosh Third In Invite
The Warsaw freshman volleyball team captured third place Saturday in the Plymouth Invitational.
The Tigers defeated Knox 25-11, 25-5 and NorthWood 25-12, 25-15 before losing to Elkhart Memorial 25-13, 17-25, 15-13 in pool play.
Warsaw defeated host Plymouth 25-15, 25-19 in the third-place match.
Memorial topped Northridge in three sets in the championship match.
The duo of Lucy Fahler and Chelsey Farling led coach James Schmidt’s Warsaw team on the day. Fahler had 24 kills and Farling had 23. Fahler also led the Tigers with 10 blocks and Farling had six.
MegAnn Pearl also had a big day for Warsaw with 15 aces, 60 assists, 19 digs and eight kills. Brooklyn Crouse had seven kills and 24 digs, Kelly Cusick six kills, 13 aces, 40 digs and one block and Katie Newland two kills, five aces, 22 digs and one block.
Anna Craig had 17 digs and two aces for Warsaw. Abigail Smith had six aces.
The frosh Tigers are now 20-6 on the season. Warsaw plays at Penn tonight and hosts Fort Wayne Carroll in the season finale Wednesday. Both matches start at 6 p.m.
