Work Begins On CR 100E Project
Kosciusko County Commissioners approved a contract for work on a portion of CR 100 East, Milford, at Tuesday’s brief meeting.
The road project will cost approximately $13,000. Phend and Brown was awarded the contract. The project will entail the re-building of the road as well as widening it from CR 1400 North (County Line Road) to CR 1300 North; Work has already begun.
A grant agreement for $60,000 was awarded to fire district II, which is seven counties including Kosciusko, that is the fiscal agent for the district. The annual grant is awarded from the Department of Homeland Security and is funded by fireworks sales tax. Kosciusko County receives a fee for being the district’s fiscal agent, said John Grolich, the fire district’s training coordinator. The grant will be used for training purposes.
Damage to the county courthouse in Warsaw will cost about $34,000 to repair. According to County Administrator Ron Robinson the courthouse’s chimney needs repaired and water damage has also occurred. Commissioners approved the cost of the repairs.
In other news, James E. Plummer Sr. of Syracuse was named October’s Veteran of the Month. Plummer served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He was stationed all over the world and did a combat tour of Vietnam. He joined the Air Force is 1954 and retired in 1974 with the rank of major.
County commissioners are President Ron Truex, Bob Conley and Brad Jackson. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 22, at the county courthouse in Warsaw.
