The Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers recently celebrated its annual achievement night.

Over 100 members attended the event at the Atwood Community Building which was organized by the Jolly Good Neighbors Club. A program by the district representative, Connie Herschopp of South Bend, demonstrated special water filters that will be purchased by Extension Homemakers from across the state and shipped to Africa where clean water is needed.

The Kosciusko County Extension Chorus entertained the group with some songs from their program at Purdue this spring. Clubs received certificates, based on points, for their activities during the year.

Many other awards were also given. Louise Powell, Warsaw, was given an award for completing 4-years as a Purdue Caret representative. Part of her duties included a trip to Washington, D.C., to help promote Purdue Agriculture. The Chit Chat club was honored for being in existence for 50 years. Two 50-year members were also honored: Linda Hathaway, Mentone; and Betty Busch, Syracuse.

The Homemaker of the Year award was given to Julia Frush for her many hours of service at the fair, making tote bags for the homeless shelter, being a county officer and planning many events and helping at many activities throughout the year.

Anyone interested in becoming a member should call the Purdue Extension office at 574-372-2340 for more information.
