USPS, WIC, VA Offices Still Open
Both WIC offices and offices of the United States Postal Service remain open in Indiana despite the federal government shutdown.
Locally, the WIC office in the K21 Health Pavilion. All services continue and participants should still attend their WIC appointments. Contact the WIC office with any questions at 574-269-4456.
In Kosciusko County, WIC serves more than 3,000 people each year, providing nutritional counseling and vouchers for nutritional food for low income families with children up to age 5. Nearly $2 million annually is brought into the Kosciusko County economy through the WIC program.
Offices of the USPS are also operating normally, despite the federal government shutdown.
Active duty military personnel also remain on the job and will receive paychecks, however, if the shutdown goes up to or beyond Oct. 7, their paychecks could be delayed until after the shutdown.
Most VA clinics and hospitals will also remain open.
