Warsaw Remembers Victims Of 9/11
Each year, the 9/11 Committee in Warsaw plans a memorial celebration to remember the nearly 3,000 people who perished when terrorists attacked the United States of America on Sept. 11, 2001.
Wednesday night’s memorial included patriotic music by Warsaw Police Officer Brad Kellar, Kosciusko County Emergency Management Director Ed Rock and local singers Ivory West and Bryce Lippe. Prayer was led by Ken Locke of the Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Boy Scout Troop 715.
Rich Maron, Kosciusko County’s Veterans Affairs officer, explained the reasons why an American flag is folded 13 times to form a triangle when presented to the family of fallen service personnel. The flag folding demonstration was made by Indiana Guard Reserves.
It was also announced that the winners of the Battle of the Badge blood drive for the local chapter of the American Red Cross was Multi-Township EMS. The blood drive is held each year as a friendly competition between police, fire and EMS to encourage life-saving blood donations.
Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony in Warsaw’s Central Park.
