Coyotes For Charity Donations Exceed 9K
The Coyotes for Charity hunters from Kosciusko, Fulton, Wabash, Miami, Grant and Howard counties harvested 266 coyotes this season.
The money made from selling the coyote pelts will be donated to a charity. The coyote pelts were prepared by Larry Frank and Terry Manley, who is a U.S. receiving agent for North American Fur Auctions in Toronto, Canada, where the pelts were sent.
All money raised is matched by the Square D Foundation through the Relay for Life campaign and also matched by a local anonymous resident. The total sales and matches for the fur sold to date is $9,676.13, with 94 coyotes yet to be sold. All money raised is donated to the American Cancer Society.
This is the tenth year for Coyotes for Charity, which was started in 2004 with four hunters harvesting five coyotes. This year, over 100 hunters participated and were able to harvest 266 coyotes. Over the past ten years, the group has harvested a total of 1,282 coyotes and donated over $32,780 to charity.
