Larry Pyle
Larry Pyle, 78, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
He was born Nov. 26, 1934, in Danville, Ill., to William Ernest and Zula F. (French) Pyle.
His first marriage was to Ruth Jo Fields and she preceded in death in 1964. He then married Sue Ann Borton on Sept. 30, 1967, in Mentone; she survives.
Larry was a farmer and also worked his way to an officer position at Farmers State Bank of Mentone, retiring in 1999.
He was a Waynetown High School graduate in 1953, and a 1957 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in economics. Larry was a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church, a former Mentone Lions member, the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine Bagpipers and he received the Kosciusko Soil and Water District – Intensive Grazing Award. He also volunteered in the initial class of EMTs for the Mentone 4-Way Ambulance Service, serving from 1976-1982. He loved to study world economics.
Survivors include his wife: Sue Pyle, Mentone; a daughter: Lou Ann (David) Guilford, Lafayette, Ind.; sons: Kevin (Janet) Pyle, Akron, Ind.; and Brian (Melissa) Pyle, Mentone, Ind.; a sister: Cynthia Howell, Crown Point, Ind.; granddaughters: Jennifer, Liz, Melissa and Addison Pyle; and grandsons: Corey (Hannah) Guilford, Adric Pyle, Cody Guilford, Damon Pyle and Maverick Pyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Ruth Jo Pyle; and daughter: Jennifer Sue Witham.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the funeral home with Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
